$66 million Jury Verdict – March, 2024 On March 14, a case against Chittranjan “Chuck” #Thakkar, the Jury found that Mr. Thakkar #fraudulently induced our client to invest in restaurants. The Jury returned a verdict in excess of $66 million. The amount included $65 million in punitive damages (See below). The evidence reflected that since as early as 1992, people and companies have been suing #Thakkar, and that prior to this trial, there are other judgments against #Thakkar for millions of dollars. The Jury expressly found in this trial that #Thakkar acted with specific intent to cause harm. We argued to the Jury that punitive damages in an amount sufficient to gather media attention might finally deter people from investing with #Thakkar. This result was the product of lots of hard work from our Cohan & Levy team. We are a small firm with big results. In 2023, we resolved by settlement or trial, claims that exceeded $650 million! With co-counsel, we tried a case to a jury for 8 trial days. The jury gave our client almost all she asked for. We litigated in Georgia, Virginia, and Utah. We mediated several cases to settlement. 2023

In this Federal Court case, Plaintiff, a California company, sought $7 million or more in actual and punitive damages, fees, and costs from our client in this breach of contract/fraud/business tort case. At the conclusion of the Plaintiff’s evidence, the Judge directed a verdict for our client on all of the Plaintiff’s claims. Thereafter, the parties settled for mutual dismissals and releases. 2022

Plaintiff sought millions in actual and punitive damages, attorney fees and costs from our client. After a trial, the Fulton County jury awarded to our client property with an approximate value of $100,000 and awarded to the plaintiff a mere $51,000.00. 2022

On March 2, 2018, following a jury trial in Fulton County Superior Court, the Court entered a Final Judgment for our client totaling $2,254,579.00 plus post judgment interest. 2018

On July 13, 2018, the Superior Court of Fulton County entered a Final Judgment for our client in the amount of $612,324.19 plus post-judgment interest. 2018
