Received a frantic call last week from a gentleman referred by another attorney. Lets call this gentleman John. John is a truck driver, and he is classified as a “casual driver with benefits.” But, after informing his employer that he would be needing a hip replacement soon, he was promptly demoted to “casual driver without benefits.”
John called in a panic – as you can imagine. He needed his health insurance. To us it sounded like a lower level manager made an uninformed bad decision. We recommended John first reach out to HR before involving us.
Last night I received an email from John informing that HR reinstated his benefits, and thanking us for saving the day. We did not charge John – of course!
Sometimes, less really is more.
Happy holidays!
